Day 176
Met friends at Brier Library for a wonderful story telling session. The librarian is great there. This time he even sang the book - amazing. It was the 4th day in a row since school ended that Hannah and Katelyn got to hang out together. I had to do an errand out in Redmond. To reward the girls for being good little shoppers, they got to get a snack and a little playtime at what looked to be a brand new McDonalds Playland in Redmond. The playtime was not our usual hours long marathon. This trip would have been a short one anyway since we didn't know anyone else there. The girl dripping pee from her legs and feet as she came down out of the play structure was plenty of motivation to cut this trip short! Later in the evening, the girls got in plenty of street play with the neighbor kids including T-ball and bikes.

Day 174 and 175
Day 174 - Summer reading kick-off at the Edmonds library this afternoon with a priate entertainer guy. Hannah got to see more friends from kindergarten. At the rate she's going, she'll spend the whole summer with her kindergarten buddies. The girls went to a birthday party for their neighbor friend across the street in the morning and got in some trampoline and water slide time. It looks like it's the beginning of neighborhood kid street play season. The longest day of the year was two days ago so this time of year it stays light until almost 10 pm. I went for a run, then we were all out front, kids running around with the neighbor kids and us weeding. It was such a warm pleasant, evening, the kind of summer evening I love.

Day 173 - Summer Vacation
Summer vacation was off to a busy start. We met up with MOPS friends at Edmonds City Park. The girls got in at least 3 hours of play time there. We ran into one of Hannah's classmates. They were so excited to see each other like the whole summer had already passed, not just 24 hrs! Later that day the girls rode their bikes on our street. Daddy had an active evening, with a walk, mowing the lawn and scraping paint of fthe side of the house. The girls and I spent the evening at a baby shower at church. It's fun to have an all girls outing. These days, they are the only kids who come to the showers so they get to retrieve the gifts for the mom to be. It's a fun tradition for them.
Day 172 - Last Day of School
The weather around here is getting ridiculous. It's the last day of school and I sent Hannah in her winter coat and boots. Same type of outfit she was wearing in January because we also got cheated out of a cold winter this year. The last day of kindergarten came all too quickly. So much drama/worry leading up to the start of kindergarten and now it's all over. Haley and I were at school with Hannah pretty much all day. We were there a lot the last few days of school. They had a graduation ceremony of sorts and had to move it indoors to the cafeteria instead of having it on the "island" in front of the school. It was really cute. All the kindergarteners sang some songs together, then they went back to their respective classrooms and got their diplomas. Thay had construction paper hats that they wore. Most of the pictures I took of the kids all came out blurry, except this one of the hats. My notes tell me the kids played with their T-ball set outside later that day. Since this is actually supposed to be a blog on our exercise activities, I thought I should add that. Just looked back at the pics and it is really cute, Hannah is wearing her bike helmet as protection from the plastic softball.
Day 171 - Father's Day
It's Father's Day and normally we go out on the boat to celebrate. The weather was so crappy and depressing, it wasn't worth making the effort to go out and we're willing to go out in pretty crappy weather. At this point in the month, Seattle still hadn't had a day above 75 degrees in 2010. That streak that lasted a record breaking 272 days wouldn't end for another 3 days. For exercise we went on a twillight/night walk, haven't done that in awhile. We came back and enjoyed the chocolate souffles the girls and I worked on that afternoon and surprised Daddy with. They were Dee-licious! Note the reflection of us in the teapot in the picture above.

Day 170 - Edmonds Art Festival
Today was a new mini adventure for us. The kindergarteners from Hannah's school were sining at the Edminds Art Festival. They called them the "Kindergrads" - so sweet! We were at home this weekend and have never been to the festival so we thought it might be fun to let her perform and then go see what there was to see. I wouldn't call us shuttle bus people, I'm not really sure what a shuttle bus person is. Not knowing what the parking situation would be, we took the shuttle bus. Parking for the bus was at Edmonds Home School Resource. I had heard of it, but didn't know where it was, turns out I have passed it a lot. We got to the festival with plenty of time to spare, so we hung out at the kids craft area. Soon my arms were loaded down with art projects, including a set of clay objects that we are apparently supposed to take to the clay store, like that is going to happen. As I am writing this a week and a half later, they still have not asked me about their clay thingys, stay tuned . . .

169 - Kindergarten Field Day
Hannah had Field Day at school today. I wasn't sure how to explain Field Day to her when she asked. I assumed it was a track and field type thing. All I can remember from my own field days at school was getting sand in my shoes at the long jump. Turns out, it was more like organized game stations the kids rotated through. We got lucky with the weather - no rain and quite warm. The weather has been cold and wet lately. Pictured above is the shoe kick. Hannah is toward the back in pink. They also did the limbo, a water balloon toss, bubbles, etc. Can't believe the school year is over next monday! John got in a walk and I got in a run today.
